Magal Deutsch, an Israeli student of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Debrecen moved to Debrecen two years ago with his wife. His grandparents migrated from Hungary, which is one of the reasons he came here to study.
Magal and his wife brought Snow, the Malamute from the Slovakian Gripp’s Crowd kennel right after they came to Hungary. The dog is treated like a family member. Magal chose to have a Malamute, because they are friendly and reliable. Snow only eats minced meat; according to Magal, dog’s meat would not be healthy for this breed.
To keep fit, Snow runs 2 or 3 times a week. In winter, sledding substitutes running. In his first year, he learned the necessary commands, and then he learned to pull Magal’s bicycle. When he turned one and a half years old, he started to pull his dogsled, which was made by Magal.
Nowadays, Magal and Snow are practicing for a dogsled competition. He would be happy, if his dog could participate more competitions, however there are few possibilities. Magal says that it would be great to have a dog park in Debrecen.
Magal mentioned that Debrecen citizens like Snow; they often ask him if they could pet Snow.
