The Pécs District Prosecutor’s Office has brought charges against a man from Debrecen for online aggression after he allegedly made a death threat against a woman from Pécs in a comment on social media, the Baranya County Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
According to the prosecution, the woman had commented on a social media post last summer during a debate surrounding a public figure. The defendant responded by writing: “Your name is on the list, there will be accountability, and if you are a traitor, you will be executed in 2026.”
The prosecution says the man’s actions constitute the misdemeanor of online aggression and has requested that he be fined.
The prosecutor’s office also noted that the misdemeanor of online aggression carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in prison.
