A molecular biologist received the Debrecen Award this year

Professor Stephen W. Scherer, head of research at the Hospital for Sick Children University Clinic in Toronto and professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, is this year’s laureate of the Debrecen Award for Molecular Medicine. He received the award on Tuesday at the University of Debrecen (DE), the institution’s press center announced.

The University of Debrecen international student community grows larger

The number of international students at the University of Debrecen (UD) has increased by five percent, and the number of self-funded foreign students has risen by fifteen percent. In the 2024/2025 academic year, 2,100 new students began their studies in DE’s English-language programs, bringing the international student body to over 7,600—its largest ever.
