Gibbon cub was born in Debrecen Zoo

New resident of the local Zoo arrived without complicatio at the beginning of August. He immediately clutched his mother`s fur.

He was born after 7 month gestation and will be breast-fed for 4-7 month.
After a couple of month he will begin to learn maneuvers, climbing etc.
Lenocska (the mother) and her spouse Jerry were together in the last 14 years. This kid is their 7th cub.

The Gibbons once lived in a huge tropical wooden area in South-east Asia /from Burma to the Malayan Peninsula, and the Greater sunda Islands. As most of the forest disappeared the number of gibbons declined or become extinct.
This pair is Hungary`s first breeding pair of this kind of gibbons.
