Debrecen was awarded the “Cyclist friendly city 2010” title.
The Ministry of Development and Rural Development awarded Debrecen with the title of “Cyclist friendly city 2010” for its efforts made in behalf of cyclists. Many aspects were taken into account before giving the award: the cyclist strategy, the infrastructure, the quality of the services and the promotion of cycling. The full length of the cycle path in Debrecen is more than 26 km, 7.5 km of which has been built during the last years. At present, they are planning and preparing the construction of a nearly 20 km long cycle path.
