They would like to decrease the hazard of infection by collecting used syringes and other tools.
In the framework of the European Year of Volunteering the Ecumenical Aid Organization organizes drug waste collection between 4-12 June. Members of the organization will collect the tools that drug users left behind in the public areas. The organization has been conducting needle exchange service since 2001 which enables intravenous drug users to exchange used tools to sterile ones, thus preventing health risks, especially Hepatitis and HIV infection.
