The Northern Great-Plain talent development program for disabled people ended. At the closing conference held on Wednesday the organizers emphasized that in many cases, handicapped people can’t become useful members of the society only because of the lack of proper support.

15 young people from Szolnok, Nyíregyháza and Debrecen participated in the customized training the aim of which was to bring out the potentials in them. Language teaching, maturation preparation, music teaching and drama pedagogy were parts of the project. Edit Tárkányi, a mentor noted that if disabled people received the special training they need, they could become useful members of the society in most of the cases but, as she sees it, neither the education system, nor the labor market is prepared to deal with handicapped people. The primary partner of the program, the “Fehér Bot Alapítvány” (White Stick Foundation) has connections with 130 visually impaired young people and intends to do even more to facilitate their social integration.
