From 1 October, Downtown terraces in Debrecen can serve guests only until midnight.
According to the explanation of Public Places Management Office, residents of the Downtown area have reported that people in terraces make so much noise that they cannot rest at night.
The owners of Downtown bars and terraces disagree with this new regulation: they not only afraid of revenue loss, but they say it would be hard to make guests accept that they have to leave before midnight.
Most guest of these Downtown terraces are young people who go out at this time. If somebody doesn’t like dancing and partying in a loud place but rather sit by a beer or a coffee to talk, from 1 October his only chance is to stay at home.
