A primary school in Debrecen hosted the final round of the international competition called EngRead on 18 May.
The final round of the 3-round reading competition was held in the Szoboszlói Úti Általános Iskola last Friday. 51 competitors participated, 16 of them came from abroad and 35 of them were pupils from different Hungarian settlements. The competition that was organized for the third time has the motto “read, have fun, win” and its popularity is proved by the fact that nearly 500 competitors registered for it. The main objective was to encourage 7th and 8th graders to read English language materials adequate for their level and to share the results of their work with an audience. It was worth fighting for the prizes of the competition that tested English language skills, the ability to use modern info-communication tools and presentation skills: the first prize was a one-week trip to London, the second prize was a netbook, and the third prize a valuable package of language books.
