These days are not only about flowers and beer in Debrecen – plays of Women’s Basketball FIBA Under 20 European Championship Division A 2012 are being held between 16-26 August.
Format of the competition
- First Round
August 16th – August 18th, 2012
16 Teams, 4 Groups, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Teams from each Group will qualify for Second Round (Results against Teams from the same Group will be taken into consideration), 4th Team from each Group will qualify for 13th-16th Places Classification Group
- Second Round
August 20th – August 22nd, 2012
12 Teams, 2 Groups, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Teams from each Group will qualify for Quarterfinals, 5th and 6th Teams from each Group will qualify for 9th-12th Places Semifinals
- 13th-16th Places Classification Group
August 20th – July 26th, 2012
4 Teams, Double Round Robin Round
- Knockout Round
August 24th – August 26th, 2012
12 Teams, Placement Matches, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals, winning Team will be Women’s Basketball FIBA Under 16 European Championship Division A 2012 Champion

As one of our readers has informed us, an unfortunate condition makes some players’ stay in our city painly memorable: after the opening ceremony on 15 August, about 50 people have been infected by salmonella bacteria, after eating some egg noodles served at the banquet.
