Baroness Thatcher, Britain’s greatest post-war prime minister, has died at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke.

Her children, Sir Mark and Carol confirmed that she died this morning.

Margaret Thatcher was the longest serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the 20th century, she governed Britain from 1979 to 1990.

Her nickname, the “Iron Lady” came from a Soviet journalist, because of her uncompromising politics and leadership style. The era of her Conservative policies is known as Thatcherism.
