Saint George’s Day Driving-Out Celebration celebrates the beginning of the new grazing season.
On this day, Hungarian grey cattle herds are driven through on the famous Nine Hole Bridge of Hortobágy. Herdmen dance traditional dances in their traditional wear.
Visitors were welcomed to taste the special local “puszta” dishes, which were cooked by herdmen or by the Baking Masters of Hortobágy.
An open organic market, where visitors could find most products of the Ecoregion of Hortobágy, was held on the bank of the Hortobágy River.
4000 Hungarian grey cattle, 2500 Hungarian sheep, 250 horses and 200 buffalos spend the summer on the Hungarian plain.
