It was a puzzling issue for the local government that many flowers were stolen from the public places of Debrecen.
Last year a new initiative was introduced to stop flower stealing: almost every flower was marked. The method was proven to be effective, so it is used again this year.
More than 50.000 bulbous flowers and 40.000 pansies were planted last autumn, the annual flowers, circa 100.000 stocks will be planted in May. Zsombor Gábor, leader of the Operations Department said that the purpose was to have more and more flowers in almost every corner of Debrecen.
