An interactive exhibition on Yeats’ poetry and culture-shaping activityis organized at the University Library.
An essential part of the Dublin-based exhibition arrived to Debrecen, which presents the Irish poet’s life and work. The opening ceremony of the exhibition, which is supported by the Irish Embassy, was held on 16th April. A speech was given by Ambassador Kevin Dowling nd Donald E. Morse, visiting professor of the University, read out Yeats poems whose creation was influenced by the events of 1948/49 in Hungary.
W.B. Yeats (1865-1939) was a multi-talented Nobel-prize winner poet, playwright, researcher of Celtic roots, patriotic supporter of Irish language, folklore and culture.
Besides exhibition screens placed at the library, visitors can take a virtual tour of the Dublin exhibition.
The Institution of English and American Studies offers various courses to students on Irish history, culture and literature, and especially on Joyce and Yeats.
