The Day of Narrow Gauge is held on Saturday, 12 July in Debrecen.
The Hungarian narrow gauges are celebrated from spring to autumn nationwide. Joining this tradition, Nagyerdei Culture Park organizes the Day of Narrow Gauge on 12 July 2014.
The Debrecen narrow gauge operates since 1960. In the 1980s the railway line was almost closed because of its pretty bad condition. At the moment, the 1100 meters long railway is in a perfect state. During the past 50 years the railway had more than 2 million passengers. Nowadays the number of visitors is about 25 thousands per year.
To celebrate the narrow gauge, various programs are waiting for families all day.
