Lesbian poet Anna Follinus, who participated in a number of LMBTQ events, has recently given an interview to divany.hu telling her personal story about sexual harassment.Hungarian poet Anna Follinus was only 16 years old when she encountered with a married couple who were the directors of a publishing house. Both of them took advantage of the girl and molested her for years.
The story of the now 33-year-old poet started when she was only 16 and she applied for a publisher’s literary competition hoping to release her works. The publishing house was led by a 71-yer-old man and his 49-year-old wife. Anna Follinus did not give out their names in the interview.
Anna was only one and a half years old when she lost her father, and she claims she was a vulnerable teenager due to this tragedy. The publishers quickly became aware of this vulnerability and they made it clear that Anna would gain their support only if she subordinates herself to their will. When Anna refused the first moves of the man, love-depriving and manipulation began.
The couple used the young girl as their sexual toy for years, but it was not just sexual harassment, according to the poet, in addition to physical aggression, all sorts of abuse were used against her.
So why did she stay with them? Anna says that a person becomes a true victim when he/she does not have a free will at all.
Follinus says that her sexual exploitation ended when she found a love against whom the publisher couple did not want or did not dare to fight.
Although these events make Anna’s life difficult, they do not overwhelm her every day. She says: “With the release of the article about my story I achieved what I wanted, and the consequences are not particularly interesting for me.”
