Market of electric cars in Hungary has developed a lot during the last four years. Compared to 2013, sales increased rapidly: in 2017 about five times more electric cars were sold in the country.According to István Zs. Nagy, member of the Hungarian Leasing Association, while the number of cars in Hungary in 2017 reached 116 thousands, there were only 795 electric cars among them. The main reason of this could be that the distance that can be taken by an electric car cannot be compared to the distance that can be taken by traditional cars with internal combustion engines. Therefore, it is very important to create an effective charging network in the country for electric cars.
It is projected that in 2030, alternative vehicles – electric and hybrid cars – still do not account for 50 per cent of the total fleet of vehicles.
