Pictures of the greatest artists of British painting – Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach and Leon Kossoff – can be visited at the latest exhibition of the Hungarian National Gallery.Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach and Leon Kossoff: they are the artists of the so-called London School, whose paintings are now exhibited at the Hungarian National Gallery together with many other British contemporary painters.
The so-called London School was actually a close friendship and professional cooperation between famous British painters of the 20th century such as Francis Bacon, the already mentioned Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach and Leon Kossoff. All of them focused on people – dressed or without clothes -, and they painted their models in everyday situations.
The current exhibition is the first Hungarian display of the London School, featuring the most renowned British artists in the world, as well as the paintings of other 20th century London painters such as Michael Andrews, R. Kitaj, Paula Rego, F.N. Souza and Euan Uglow.
The exhibition can be visited between the 9th of October, 2018 and the 13th of January, 2019 in the A building of the Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest.
