From now on, you will have a chance to meet one of the most ancient horse breeds in Europe as we have recently acquired two Shetland ponies. The majestic dark bay mares have already taken up residence in their enclosure on the premises of the Amusement Park section.
Native to the harsh and rocky Shetland Isles of Scotland, the Shetland pony has traditionally been used as a saddle or pack horse. It is particularly resistant to diseases, has a fast regeneration rate and has a rather long life expectancy of 30 to 35 years. Iconic features include great stamina and a robust physique. It has a relatively small and proportionate head, tiny ears and large eyes, reflecting its intelligence and lively temperament. With its small size and benevolent nature, it is an ideal beginner’s horse for children.
With this acquisition, we also aim to rekindle our great horse riding tradition since, from August onwards, beloved pony rides will again be available for children.
