Dorkász Foundation has joined its forces with Debrecen-Úrrét Reformed Congregation, and assisted by the North American Reformed Church, they will deliver a total of 250 packages of food and 250 drawing therapy board games to local families with small children in need. The action takes place in the framework of a spiritual movement called „Love your city!”, which lasts from Easter until Pentecost.
The first donations were handed out in the Child Welfare Centre of the Municipality of Debrecen on 26 May 2020. Vice Mayor Diána Széles called attention to the fact that the emergency was not over. The Reformed Church – notably Debrecen-Úrrét Reformed Congregation – and Dorkász Foundation decided to support an action that aims to offer the possibility to families to spend quality time at home and be prepared for the hardship likely to lie ahead – also with the help of a board game. As the Vice Mayor outlined: „the unity in Debrecen during the time of the coronavirus emergency is outstanding and gives spiritual energies: the strength of the city, the feeling of love and unity have all become apparent”. The packages contain preserved food worth 2,000 HUF – said Ábel Lukács Kiss, Director of Dorkász Foundation. Debrecen Charity Board adds a little to this. Furthermore, the package contains a drawing therapy board game called „The suitcase of life”, which is based on stories from the Bible, and can be supplemented with further stories to be downloaded from the internet site of Dorkász Foundation on a monthly basis.
