Citizens with a permanent address in Debrecen will be able to enjoy the benefits and advantages of the Debrecen City Card obtainable from June 2020 which are unique in the whole country.
The city leadership has been preparing options for introducing a Debrecen card offering several services for residents of Debrecen. Now, in joint efforts with the Ministry of the Interior, they managed to set up a system which is unique in the whole country.
– The first smart city card based on the system of the e-ID card is to be introduced in Debrecen first in the country – said Mayor László Papp at the presentation of the card on 27 May 2020. – This card has been made for residents of Debrecen so that they should feel: they are the first ones in this city – added the city leader.
– A solution has emerged which is exemplary for the whole country. We will offer this solution, this service for the other cities as well. I trust that it will spread in Hungary– said Károly Hajzer, Deputy Secretary of State for Information Technology of the Ministry of the Interior.
This card is much more than only a discount card: this is a card of identity. The symbol of the unity that characterises Debrecen – pointed out Vice Mayor Diána Széles.
