Katinka Hosszú has decided not to take part in next week’s national swimmers’ championship.
The three-time Olympic champion said on Sunday at her community page that she now needs some training to prepare for the Olympics, so she won’t be taking part in the national swimmers’ championship this year, and she wishes to her clubmates as well as other swimmers good luck.
The national swimmers’ championship will be held in Kaposvár from Tuesday to Saturday.
Katinka Hosszú and her team, Iron, took part in the ISL season in the Budapest bubble. Although her long results fell short of expectations, she showed better form from race to race. She then stated that she was already very much in need of the fights that formed the basis of her current preparation, and “if there had been ten more matches, she would have been in shape”. She then expressed her hope that she would soon be able to jump into the pool in as many races as possible, and then her preparation would return to its previous rhythm. She highlighted that she feels in much better shape and motivated after the ISL season than before when she couldn’t compete for eight months, so the current team fight gave her a big boost for the future.
