Due to serious food hygiene violations, this time the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) immediately suspended the operation of a slaughterhouse in Hajdú-Bihar County, and proceedings and fines are pending.
In its statement on Thursday, the authority emphasizes that the existence of Kft., where an inspection was held in February, has seriously violated the legal requirements. The unit may resume operations only after the errors have been fully corrected and after another favorable on-site inspection by the authority.
Nébih pointed out that the inspectors found a heavily polluted environment and equipment in the slaughterhouse: the walls and ceiling of the slaughterhouse were dirty, the floor, walls and equipment of the stall cleaning room were covered with a thick layer of lime. As they wrote, the meatballs dried on the splitting saw, one of the hand basins had several heavily soiled knives and saws with a rusty surface, and the crates lined up in the refrigerator in a neglected condition. In addition to the courtyard fence, animal by-products (cattle heads, raw sheepskins) were stored in uncovered, cracked side-walled collection containers, and raw cowhide lay freely on the ground.
The equipment disinfectants did not work and there was no equipment washer on the site at all. The changing rooms and washrooms provided to the workers were also in a highly objectionable condition. In some places there was no running water in the hand basins, in other places, it was not connected to the sewerage network, and handwashing detergent and paper hand towels were practically not placed anywhere – they wrote. The company also did not present documents for a qualified slaughterhouse animal welfare officer and animal welfare training for workers.
According to the list of infringements, the slaughterhouse mentioned is the unit of Létai-Huszti Húsipari és Kereskedelmi Kft.
