A special session of parliament initiated by the opposition to discuss the government’s management of the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday lacked the necessary quorum as deputies of the ruling parties stayed away.

The proponent Democratic Coalition, Socialist Party, Jobbik, LMP, and Párbeszéd had sought to discuss a resolution concerning “the chaos” around vaccination as well as immediate economic measures. Deputies of ruling Fidesz said earlier they would “not provide assistance to the Left’s anti-vax campaign”. The government also said it considered the initiative as a “campaign move”.
