It is a key mission of ours as Hungary’s first zoo outside the capital and one and only amusement park to be a go-to venue for, as well as an active participant in, community activities; we therefore have a long tradition of working with young local zoo and amusement park enthusiasts either as volunteers or university interns. These community building efforts of ours can now be taken to the next level as we have become a European Solidarity Corps partner, meaning we will also get to work with disadvantaged young foreigners under long term international volunteering projects.
Volunteers will be guided by mentors in their daily work as zooeducation or zookeeper assistants or hosts, with both our staff and supporting organizations to help them in integration and engagement in local communities. We hope such collaboration will prove fruitful for all parties involved, contributing to both volunteers’ personal development and experience and a richer and more diverse local community.
