The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office indicted a young woman who suddenly turned the steering wheel of a car driven by her friend for a traffic safety crime, as a result of which the vehicle overturned a pole holding signs and crashed into a ditch.
On June 20, 2021, at 2 a.m., the woman was traveling in the right front seat of a car driven by her boyfriend. They were both drunk, the defendant was not wearing a seat belt.
The man talked to his girlfriend, and a argument ensued between them. The enraged, drunken woman then suddenly grabbed the steering wheel of the car and yanked it to the right. The driver was unable to keep the vehicle on the road after the sudden steering motion, drifted to the right, knocked down a column holding traffic signs, and then stopped in the roadside ditch.
There were no personal injuries as a result of the accident in Polgár, however, the concrete pillar and the vehicle were significantly damaged.
The investigation was carried out by the Hajdúnánási Police Headquarters.
A separate criminal case was instituted against the driver of the car for drunk driving while intoxicated.
The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against the accused for the crime of traffic safety in the Hajdúböszörmény District Court. In the indictment for the execution of the sentence, the district prosecutor’s office proposed that the district court impose a fine on the accused on the basis of the content of the documents without holding a trial.
