Instead of the traditional parade, the audience will be able to admire the flower carnival compositions on Nagyerdei körút and Kossuth Square this year as well, including the fantasy work “Tree of Knowledge” of the University of Debrecen on 20 August.
The University of Debrecen joined the Flower Carnival for the first time in 2008, the carriage at that time depicted a university life picture. The compositions of the institution change from year to year, but the original concept has remained unchanged: to present the diversity of the university and its mission in the field of education-research-science.
“In the developmental history of mankind, the desire for knowledge appears again and again. Every person has been striving for centuries to get to know and understand his/her environment better and to have more useful experiences. The tree grows from a single small seed into a vibrant, storm-resistant, drought-tolerant tree that gives the earth its fruit. The University of Debrecen itself is a more than 100-year-old, wise tree, which creates new and new green trees from small seeds through its research development and innovation activities, and helps the thousands of students in the almost complete offer and vertical of the Hungarian training portfolio by transferring the knowledge to be successful, productive and happy. The designer and sculptor of the flower car of the University of Debrecen is the work of Róbert Nádasdi, and the flower design and execution is the work of Tamás Gulyás and his team.
The audience can see the carnival flower carts in the form of an exhibition this year as well, on August 20 on Nagyerdei körút and between August 21-22. on Kossuth Square and Piac Street. On August 20, the compositions will be on view in the evening light from 9 pm to midnight. In addition, some of the flower carts also visit Esztergom, Hajdúszoboszló and Oradea.
