Debrecen Summer School, established in 1927, specializes in teaching Hungarian as a foreign language and diffusing knowledge of Hungarian culture. Its mission is to help foreigners pursue specific aspects of the Hungarian language and culture in depth. Despite its name, the School offers various courses from January to December. In addition to the traditional four-week Hungarian Language and Culture Summer Course, there are many other opportunities to start or improve your level of Hungarian. You can choose one- or two-week intensive courses, semester courses, one-year foundation courses, thematic courses and, of course, private courses on demand. By special agreement, foreign companies as well as diplomatic or other missions operating in Debrecen and Hajdú-Bihar County can enjoy the most flexible and effective way of learning Hungarian and getting acquainted with customs and traditions in Hungary.
The coronavirus pandemic has inspired the management and teaching staff of Debrecen Summer School to come up with new methods in language teaching. As a result, we could see the emergence of more and more creative ideas related to the teaching of Hungarian in the digital world. The online format has proved to be not only useful but also quite popular, especially for those who cannot or do not wish to join classroom groups.
