Turnover of catering businesses in Hungary rose by 26% to 1,031 billion forints last year, the Hungarian Tourism Agency said, citing tax office data collected directly from tills.
Turnover was just 3% short of the level in 2019, before the coronavirus crisis. Almost 34% of last year’s catering revenue was realised in the capital and 10% in Pest County. Catering businesses in Győr-Moson-Sopron County and Veszprém County, in the west of the country, each accounted for about 5% of the total. Since September, catering industry turnover has matched levels in 2019, the agency noted.
