The bicycle path between Polgár and Tiszaújváros can be built, the county government said. The 22 km section can be realized from EU funds and government support from more than 400 million forints.
On March 9, at the ceremonial laying of the investment, József Tóth, the mayor of Polgár, said that the two settlements had signed a cooperation agreement for the construction of the cycle path for more than ten years. However, the preparation took a long time, but in the end, with the help of external help and government support, the work can be started. Therefore, he especially thanked the county self-government, the Member of Parliament, and the Ministry of Finance, especially the present head of the department, Csaba Szabó.
Dr. György Fülöp, the mayor of Tiszaújváros, will make the bike path easier for workers commuting between the two cities, but this investment is also important for tourism. He also said that Tiszaújváros did not receive any funds in the first round, but thanks to a later government decree on road development, it will be possible to build a cycle path between Tiszaújváros and the county border.
Zoltán Pajna, the president of the Hajdú-Bihar County Local Government, also took part in the ceremony. He also provided support for the planned investments for the future, but as he said, cooperation between the local government, the local community, NGOs, the county assembly, the parliamentarian, and the government is still needed to succeed.
Dr. István Tiba, the Member of Parliament for the region, then confirmed that today is an example of how it is possible to work together very well, regardless of worldview, as the interests of the population are always taken into account in decisions.
