Gergely Gulyás, Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Zsolt Hernádi, President and CEO of Mol, who is under review in Croatia, held an evening of Government Information on Thursday.
Gergely Gulyás explained that the government would stick to the petrol stcok. There is no basis for the assumption that the government will not be able to maintain the petrol stock and that there would be a shortage of fuel. The goal was to protect families and small businesses.
According to the minister, demand has increased due to panic of petrol tourism, transit traffic.
Three decisions were made in consultation with Mol, Gulyás said:
Trucks over 7.5 tons and foreign trucks over 3.5 tons can only refuel at high-pressure wellheads where market prices will be available.
Cars and Hungarian trucks can refuel for 480 forints. Agricultural power plants are also an exception.
The government will reduce the excise tax on fuels by HUF 20.
Mol will be able to supply fuel at wholesale prices, but petrol tourism needs to be curtailed. Those who report information about a fuel outage will be prosecuted, as will those who refuel. The regulation will take effect from 10 pm.
The government is announcing a truck stop for the four-day weekend.
Zsolt Hernádi, head of Mol, said that the refineries at Mol are operating smoothly, the Friendship oil pipeline is constantly delivering, and the Adriatic oil pipeline is ready if there is a problem with the other.
Mol has enough reserves and refining capacity to meet its entire Hungarian fuel needs. This is also the case with the fluctuation of the forint exchange rate and the change in the price of crude oil.
The turnover of petrol stations has increased dramatically due to the appearance of improper consumers, plus refueling. Buses and trucks also refuel here, there are vans refueling in 100-200 liter tanks, but there are those who refuel in bags. Hernádi called this abuse.
