The University of Debrecen (DE) has expanded its training services with EU funding. The project was implemented in a consortium with Community Educatio Oktató és Szolgáltató Nonprofit Kft . HUF 3.928 billion was realized from non-refundable support within the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 program, the university’s project office informed MTI.
In preparing the online curriculum, university faculty have sought to meet labor market expectations in addition to the new training and output requirements set by the Ministry of Human Resources (EMMI), they said. In order to modernize the training structure and integrate innovative content into training, short-term in-service training was developed and held for faculty practitioners, while university practitioners and master teachers were also involved, they wrote.
In order to reduce the number of students dropping out of higher education, mentoring programs and catch-up training was launched for first-year students, and the university’s mental health and equal opportunities center and the student government indicated assistance in community integration.
In parallel with the expansion of online content, IT investments have also been made, and an important element of student services is the reservation system for library study rooms, they wrote.
During the implementation of the project, they presented themselves at international educational fairs and developed new foreign language training and services. The co-operation in the Carpathian Basin was highlighted, in the framework of which joint Hungarian language courses were established in several faculties, and about one thousand five hundred students took part in social programs organized in the spirit of active social participation.
More than 26,000 participants have been involved in the project’s programs over the past four years, with the aim of realizing the University of Debrecen’s efforts to ensure quality education, the project office concludes.
