Bertalan Tóth, the co-leader of the Socialists, will not seek his post again at a party congress in the autumn, the opposition politician said on Facebook on Sunday.
Party leaders assessed the results of the April 3 general election at a meeting on Saturday, he said. Tóth said he would support the Socialists’ shared work “as a team member”, heading the party’s parliamentary group after the autumn congress. The Socialists must elect their leaders every two years, according to party rules. Tóth was elected co-leader together with Ágnes Kunhalmi at a congress in the autumn of 2020. Since 2018, he had held the post alone.
