Research: prestige is more important to Hungarian men than pay

National
When choosing a job, the prestige of the job and the fixed number of working hours are more important than the salary and professional development opportunities for Hungarian men, according to a representative study by National Geographic and NRC.

According to the survey, the majority of Hungarian men between the ages of 18 and 49 (67 percent) strive for stability in their daily lives. Nevertheless, when choosing a career, the salary is important to only one-fifth of them, and less or not important at all to five-fifths of the respondents.
At the same time, it is especially important for nearly 80 percent of respondents that their profession be valued by others. 20 percent of those with basic education, and one in four of those with higher education, find the current job commendable by the outside world. Barely 6 percent of those living in the city and only 1 percent of villagers are not concerned about this issue.
According to the summary submitted to MTI, it is a crucial issue for only a quarter of men to choose a job that can be done from home. While almost one-fifth of Budapest residents, almost a third of villagers prefer home office.
More than 40 percent of respondents prefer flexible working hours, while the majority vote for fixed hours. Only a fraction of 18-29-year-olds and 40-49-year-olds (4 percent) are determined to work in a flexible workplace.

The survey was conducted by NRC Marketingkutató és Tanácsadó Kft. In April, the sample of 500 respondents is representative of men aged 18-49 by age group, education, type of residence, and region.
