There will be closures and traffic restrictions in Petőfi Square for three months

Petőfi Square in Debrecen will be completely renovated on 17 thousand square meters. Petőfi Square in Debrecen will be renovated from European Union funds. The second phase of construction will begin on Tuesday, the municipality writes. The first phase of construction work involving traffic restrictions began in February 2022, and the second phase will run from 7 June to mid-September 2022.

During the works, the road sections and car parks that handle traffic will be closed, and the traffic order in the surrounding streets will change. The sidewalks in front of the residential buildings and shops – separated from the work area by a cordon – will be usable for pedestrians and to fill the shops continuously.

Construction II. its pace begins on June 7, 2022, and lasts until mid-September.

A II. During the construction works of Phase I, the part of the service road bag in front of Petőfi tér 16 / A will be closed. The end of Iparkamara utca facing Petőfi tér will also be closed, entering and exiting the street from Varga utca. To ensure two-way traffic, there will be a ban on stopping on the street.

A loading area will be designated for the shops in Petőfi Square at the end of Iparkamara Street. During the construction period, drivers will be able to use designated parking spaces in Varga Street, on the section of the Petőfi Square service road between Holló János Street and Iparkamara Street, and on the section of Piac Street between Holló János Street and Wesselényi Street. From June 20, the Petőfi tér bus stop will be available for pedestrians again.

Drivers are asked not to drive as usual but to follow the signs of the temporary traffic order.
