The University of Debrecen will host the University Frisbee World Championship next year. In preparation for the sports event, the secretary general of the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) and the president of the Hungarian Flying Disc Federation visited the venue.
As is known, in 2024 the University of Debrecen and the University of Miskolc – in cooperation with the municipalities of Debrecen and Miskolc – will host the European University Games (EUG). Before this, UD organizes several high-level foreign sports events, one of which will be the Frisbee World Championship between July 5 and 8, 2023.
In connection with the Frisbee World Cup, the University of Debrecen hosted several international sports leaders: Volker Bernardi, Secretary General of the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), and Zoltán Erdősi, President of the Hungarian Flying Disc Federation, visited. They viewed the future venue of the World Championship, the university tracks, the sports facility on Oláh Gábor Street, as well as the service facilities that will await the competitors and their companions.
The university will also be able to utilize the experience of the Frisbee World Championship during the EUG, as ultimate frisbee will already be a demonstration sport at the European University Games.
