The municipality of Debrecen is carrying out pavement renovations at new locations. On September 2, 2022, Viktor Papp, leader of the Fidesz-KDNP faction of the Debrecen General Assembly, and municipal representative György Korbeák reported on the works already underway on Cívis Street.
As Viktor Papp said, for the municipality of Debrecen, as in the budgets of previous years, this year’s budget also focuses on the development of the city’s transport infrastructure. In recent years, road renovations, road constructions, sidewalk constructions, sidewalk renovations, bicycle path constructions, and large-surface asphalting have taken place in countless places – and such things are still taking place today.
Overall, Debrecen has hundreds of kilometers of sidewalks, the vast majority of which are between 30 and 50 years old. Of course, during this time, these pavement sections became old, transverse cracks formed on them, and they sank.
This year, the city will carry out pavement renovation works at approximately 60 locations, worth HUF 159 million gross. Including but not limited to:
on Cívis utca, Hortobágy utca, Lázár utca, Lőrinc Szabó utca, Karinthy Frigyes utca, Szent Anna utca, Derék utca, Szoboszlói út.
The district’s individual local government representative, György Korbeák, expressed his joy at the fact that the pavement repair work on Jerikó Street, which began in 2019, was completed in two phases, while last year – in consultation with the residents of the area – this investment reached the house at Cívis Street No. 8. This year, the sidewalk between Cívis utca 8 and 16 – all the way to the post office – will be completely renewed, as well as the section of the bicycle path next to it. The value of this investment alone is HUF 33 million. It will take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete the works on Cívis Street that began on August 30.
