The University of Debrecen paid tribute by laying a wreath at the statue of its former namesake, Count István Tisza, standing in front of the Main Building. Tibor Szólláth, a member of the board of trustees of the foundation that maintains the institution, and István Csont, president of the UD Student Self-Government (HÖK), gave speeches at the celebratory event organized on Friday to mark the anniversary of the former prime minister’s death.
The commemoration ended with the Speech performed by the Debrecen Garrison Band of the 5th István Bocskai Lövészdándár of the Hungarian Defense Forces in the square in front of the university.
