A man from Konyár robbed a 15-year-old boy on a train leaving Debrecen

Police

According to the indictment, on December 5, 2022, the man was on his way home from Debrecen to his residence in Konyás on the passenger train departing after 8 p.m.

At around 9:00 p.m., between the Derecske and Konyár stations, he approached the minor victim, who was alone in the back of the train, and threatened to beat him, then informed him that he had recently been released from prison, where he wanted to go back, and that the victim should feel free to call the police. After that, he asked the victim what brand of jacket he had, then suddenly grabbed the piece of clothing on the seat and put it on himself.

The victim tried to ask for his coat back, but the robber told him that he had “something” but that he did not want the victim to take it out and use it.

Shortly thereafter, the passenger train stopped at the Konyár railway station, where the man got off. A young acquaintance traveled with the defendant, but he did not participate in the crime.

The man caused HUF 10,000 damage to the victim by throwing away the jacket – and a decorative knife inside it – which was confiscated by the investigators and returned to the victim, so the damage was repaid.

The investigation of the case was conducted by the Berettyóújfalu Police Department.

The Berettyóújfalu District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against the accused under arrest for the crime of robbery at the Berettyóújfalu District Court. In the indictment, he made a motion for the district court to sentence the defendant to prison and, as a secondary punishment, ban him from practicing public affairs. The district prosecutor’s office also presented a moderate motion in the indictment, according to which, if the man admits to committing the crime charged against him at the preliminary session of the district court and waives his right to a trial, the district court should sentence him to 4 years in prison and ban him from practicing public affairs for 4 years.
