The Hajdú-Bihar County Prosecutor’s Office brought charges of human trafficking and forced labor against a woman running a boarding house and two men who persuaded and helped the girls in prostitution.
According to the indictment, from August 2020 to March 2021, the woman rented a property in Debrecen, which she operated as a boarding house. The accommodation was available on the Internet, this is how the two men came into contact with the woman. They agreed to move into the boarding house with their minor partners. Both young couples ran out of money in a short time, they could not pay the daily rent for the room, so the two men persuaded their underage partners to engage in prostitution in order to cover their livelihood, thus their further living in the boarding house. The two men also agreed on this with the woman, who assisted them in taking photos of the minor victims, as well as in compiling and publishing the advertisements.
One young couple lived in the boarding house for almost 6 months starting from September 2020, while the other couple lived in the boarding house from November 2020 until Christmas 2020, and during this time the two minor victims regularly provided sexual services for money.
From August 2020 to March 2021, another 3 victims also engaged in the same activities in the boarding house, with the woman’s knowledge.
The investigation of the case was conducted by the Hajdú-Bihar County Police Headquarters.
The Hajdú-Bihar County Prosecutor’s Office charged the woman, who is under criminal supervision, with 2 counts of aggravated human trafficking, the crime of forced labor and 3 counts of facilitating prostitution. The prosecutor’s office accuses the men who are serving a final prison sentence in other cases or under criminal supervision with the more severely punishable case of human trafficking and the crime of forced labor.
