As it was written, trains running after nine o’clock in the evening are running on the full route, and passengers do not have to transfer to a replacement bus. However, until the full restoration, which is expected to take place in the first half of June, two early morning and two-afternoon trains will not run between Debrecen and Nyíregyháza, and delays of five to ten minutes may occur in the case of the other trains.

Railway tickets and passes will no longer be accepted on the Volánbusz parallel services from Tuesday – read on the Mávinform website.

On May 7, nine cars of a freight train loaded with iron ore derailed between Újfehértó and Hajdúhadház, near Téglás in Hajdú-Bihar county. Some of the freight wagons overturned and made the track section impassable. During the restoration work, more than 250 railway specialists worked on lifting the derailed freight cars back up, repairing the less damaged track section, the catenary system and the safety equipment.

The works will then continue with the reconstruction of the other more seriously damaged track, expected to last several weeks. Based on preliminary estimates, the cost of technical rescue and the restoration of the railway track exceeds HUF one billion.
