A worker may have been paralyzed when a part of a piling machine fell on him during the construction of the battery factory in Debrecen, RTL learned.
According to the channel’s information, the accident happened on Thursday, the unfortunate worker was working on a pole drill when he was injured. A concrete pump is connected to the drilling machine, RTL knows that such a hose may have failed: somehow one of its metal fastening parts, which weighs at least thirty kilos, fell on the worker and hit his back.
Pál Győrfi, spokesman for the National Ambulance Service, told RTL that the man suffered a spinal injury. He was already taken to the hospital with his whole body immobilized and given pain relief. The worker was immediately operated on in the hospital in Debrecen, the channel knows that he suffered multiple vertebral fractures. The hospital wrote that the worker’s condition is stable, but he developed paralysis.
The fact of the accident was also confirmed by CATL, the occupational safety inspectors of the government office and the police went to the scene, they received the information that no proceedings were initiated in the case. According to CATL, there was no human error. However, the responsibility of the manufacturer of the defective part is being investigated, and all piling machines will be reviewed out of sequence.
