Accor will open an ibis Styles hotel in Debrecen in 2025 thanks to an agreement with the Xanga Group, one of the largest investment and development groups in Eastern Hungary. This will be the first hotel in the immediate vicinity of the Debrecen International Airport.
According to the announcement, the newly built hotel will have 73 rooms and 20 apartments on four floors. A restaurant, bar and cafe are also open, and meeting rooms are available for business travelers. The ibis Styles hotel brand is a member of the Accor group, with hotels operating in more than 560 locations in more than 45 countries.
XANGA – the former operator of the airport – has been dealing with the development of turnkey industrial and logistics facilities for rent for more than two decades.
Debrecen International Airport is Hungary’s second most important international airport. In 2022, the number of registered passengers exceeded 250,000, and the expected number of passengers by 2023 is 300,000. According to industry estimates, passenger traffic may return to the 2019 level around 2025, and reach 1.5-2 million by 2030. According to public company data, the net sales revenue of Debrecen International Airport Kft., which operates the airport, was HUF 1.8 billion in 2021, and its loss after tax was HUF 856 million. In 2022, the company’s net sales revenue was HUF 2.45 billion, and its loss after tax was HUF 1.5 billion.
The operator of the hotel under construction is Accor HotelServices Magyarország Kft. In 2021, it recorded a loss of HUF 3.55 billion with sales revenue of HUF 4.4 billion, and a loss of HUF 4.1 billion with sales revenue of HUF 6.4 billion in 2022.
