The transport companies’ services run according to a changed schedule at Christmas and at the end of the year, at New Year’s, Mávinform informed MTI on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, from December 22 to January 2, on the frequent days in terms of passenger traffic, the trains of the more utilized morning and afternoon InterCity trains will run with more cars than usual on other weekends.
If possible, additional cars will be put into service in addition to the planned ones, if the passenger traffic requires it, they added.
It was also indicated that the seat occupancy of the given train can already be observed on Elvira based on seat ticket sales.
They emphasized that it is worthwhile to buy tickets in advance as soon as possible or to use the machines and the online ticket purchase on Elvira or in the MÁV application.
On December 24 and 25, the trains will run according to the holiday schedule, on December 26, on Sunday, on December 31, on a holiday, on January 1, on Sunday, and from January 2, the trains will run according to the usual working day schedule.
The timetable of Volánbusz local and intercity buses will also change: buses will depart according to the timetable on Thursdays on working days and the last school day of the week, on the 22nd on the last working day of the week, and on the 23rd as a day off. On December 24th, Christmas Eve and December 25th, the first day of Christmas, the buses run according to the public holiday schedule. On December 26, the schedule for the working day preceding the first school holiday of the week is valid – they wrote.
Between December 27th and 29th, the buses will run according to the schedule valid for the working days of the school break, while the schedule announced for the first working day of the week and the last working day of the week will be in effect on Wednesday. December 30 is a public holiday, December 31 is a New Year’s holiday, and January 1 is a New Year’s Day.
Between January 2nd and 5th, the bus routes run according to the timetable valid for the working days of the school break. January 6th is a day off, and January 7th is the day off before the first teaching and working day of the week. On Monday, January 8, buses announced for the first work and school day of the week will depart.
Attention was drawn to the fact that on December 24 and 31, after 4 p.m., the majority of bus routes, as well as many routes during Christmas and between the two holidays, do not run.
Department stores and shopping centers are closed on December 25, 26, and January 1, so services to the department stores also run according to their holiday schedule during this period.
On December 22nd, the HÉV runs according to the schedule valid on the working days of the school break, while on December 24th it runs according to the valid schedule on the working days during the day.
On the HÉV lines H5, H6, H8 and H9, the trains run even after 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve – less often than usual – until the late evening shutdown.
On December 25 and 26, all HÉV lines will have a public holiday schedule; from December 27 to 29, the trains run according to the schedule valid on the working days at the end of the year. On the night from December 31 to January 1, night traffic is provided on all HÉV lines, the announcement states.
