By the end of June, 5,260 kindergarteners, elementary, and high school students had explored various topics such as forest wildlife, the work of foresters, and sustainable forest and wildlife management at the NYÍRERDŐ Zrt. Nagyerdei Forestry Forest School.
According to the company’s statement, this number already surpasses the visitation results of 2023. A significant contribution to this achievement came from the “Forest in School” program, announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and coordinated by the National Forestry Association, which saw participation from 2,515 students from 30 educational institutions in Hajdú-Bihar county, free of charge.
During the spring, programs related to Sustainability Week and Birds and Trees Day were very popular, with many school classes spending the last days of the academic year in the Nagyerdő or at the Erdőspusztai Exhibition House and Arboretum.
In the summer months, camps take center stage, and from September, the “Forest in School” program will continue, along with new forest pedagogy activities. These programs will welcome kindergarten and school groups interested in nature and its many wonders, said Anett Huszti Somné, the head of the Nagyerdei Forestry Forest School.
