The Locomotive of a Train Departing from Debrecen Caught Fire

Local News

The locomotive of a train traveling from Debrecen to Füzesabony caught fire near the Tiszafüred station on Tuesday, according to a statement on the MÁV website. Passengers were evacuated in time.

The railway company reported that the fire had been extinguished, but the malfunctioning train was obstructing traffic between Tiszafüred and Egyek. As a result, significantly longer travel times are expected on the Debrecen–Tiszafüred line in the afternoon.

The statement said passengers can use the nearby Volánbusz scheduled services, which will accept train tickets until the disruption is resolved.
