An adjunct lecturer from the Department of Molecular and Nanopharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Debrecen, has been awarded the 2024 Danubius Young Scientist Award, a prestigious international prize for Hungary. Ágnes Rusznyák primarily researches the cellular effects of cyclodextrins and their ability to carry RNA. Her findings have been published in several scientific journals.
The 2024 Danubius Young Scientist Award was presented at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Danube Rectors’ Conference in Krems, Austria. The award was established by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe 1 and is awarded annually to one outstanding young researcher from each of the 14 countries participating in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. The award aims to highlight the work and talent of young professionals and increase the visibility of the region’s scientific community.
From 140 candidates, Ágnes Rusznyák, an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Molecular and Nanopharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Debrecen (DE GYTK), was selected by the expert jury to receive the award on behalf of Hungary.
Ágnes Rusznyák’s research focuses primarily on investigating the cellular effects of cyclodextrins and their ability to carry RNA. In addition, she is involved in the formulation and investigation of nanoparticles containing various active substances and innovative buccal patches.
“I was overjoyed to receive this recognition. It’s almost unbelievable that my work is being recognized on a European level. I will frame the certificate I received in Austria and put it on my wall at home,” she said.
The young researcher is the first author of three scientific publications in prestigious international journals and a co-author of sixteen others. These publications have been cited 432 times independently, with a combined impact factor of 82.8.
Ágnes Rusznyák regularly participates in various international and domestic professional conferences where she presents her research results. The young pharmacist also takes part in the practical training of Hungarian and foreign pharmacy students and supervises the work of several students as a supervisor. She is also involved in the development of younger talents, and mentoring activities at the Sántha Kálmán Pharmacy College.
