A man thought it was perfectly normal to enter a discount liquor store in Debrecen this summer, take a beer off the shelf, and walk out of the store.
The saleswoman, however, didn’t see it that way. She grabbed the man’s hand at the door and asked him to pay for the drink. The man responded by kicking her in the stomach, tearing at her clothes, twisting her arm, and then angrily smashing the beer can several times before throwing it behind the counter and storming off.
The saleswoman immediately called the police, who arrived at the scene within minutes and apprehended the 41-year-old man in a nearby street. Detectives questioned him on suspicion of robbery and grievous bodily harm, then placed him in police custody and requested his arrest, which was ordered by the Debrecen District Court.
The Debrecen Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department has completed the necessary procedural actions and forwarded the case file to the prosecutor’s office.
