Train no. 6266, which left Debrecen for Záhony at 5:53 p.m. on Wednesday (27th November), hit a person near Debrecen, MÁV reported on the accident on its website. During the site investigation, traffic was suspended on one track between Debrecen and Apafa. As a result, journey times on the Budapest-Debrecen-Nyíregyháza-Záhony and Debrecen-Mátészalka lines increased by 5-15, and in some cases by 15-30 minutes.
According to the press, the passengers of the train involved in the accident were transferred to another train with the help of disaster management staff. According to the announcement of the disaster management, an evacuation train arrived at the scene, on which the professional firefighters from Debrecen helped about a hundred passengers. The disaster prevention operations service also worked on the scene.
