Nabiha: Never Give Up Your Dreams!

Culture

Nabiha’s first concert in Hungary was at Campus Festival. The Danish singer told us how she sees Hungary and explained what chances does a musician of a small country has for international success.

-Have you heard about Hungary before?

Nabiha: – Of course, I’ve heard of Hungary before, I knew where I come. This has been the first time I visited this country, I’ve never been here before, and I feel myself very lucky to be here. Unfortunately, I did not see much of the country. I landed today, in the afternoon, in Budapest and I directly came to Debrecen. Soon we are travelling further, so I don’t have the time to look around, despite that I’d love to. Hungary seems to be a very appealing/pleasant place, based on my experience so far.

-Have you heard of Hungarian musicians before?

-I haven’t heard anything about them before coming to Campus Festival. But now I got to know two of them. I listened to Intim Torna Illegál, a band that played before us. They were very good, and their performance was very convincing. Besides them, I know the musician who was playing after me; Ákos. As far as I know, he is almost a cult-musician in Hungary, or in other words, he is “Hungary’s Bruce Springsteen”. I heard that starting from electronic music, he combines many musical styles, so I’m very curious about his concert.

-What impressions have you get about Hungarians during your short staying so far? How did you feel yourself at Campus Festival?

-Unfortunately I haven’t got much experience, as I arrived a few hours ago. In fact, our luggage –clothes and instruments- was misdirected, it didn’t arrive to Berlin airport, so we had to purchase everything here, in Hungary. We were able to solve this problem without any difficulties here, so it was a good experience that the concert went well despite of these inconveniences. There are fantastic people around us, everything is professional, our hosts are very kind, so we enjoyed Campus Festival. We were especially happy that we could play on the main stage. Hats off to the Hungarian audience. It was a great experience when I went to the stage and I saw the crowd. We felt the love of the audience and saw those smiling faces throughout the whole concert, which a real uplift. I’d like to know more about this lovely country and about Hungarians, but right now, I cannot tell your more. I feel that Hungarians understand and appreciate our music, which I really like.

-How would you describe yourself in three sentences?

-First of all, I consider myself a positive, open and sociable person. Then, I really like music, and I hope I always will. Finally, I can tell that I am an eternal dreamer.

-How do you see, what are the chances for a musician of a small country, like Hungary or Denmark, for international success?

-It is always difficult to talk about chances. If I take into consideration myself, I would say I don’t care about chances. Just follow your heart and make the best out of yourself. This is the only thing you have to do, and this is the way to follow. You shouldn’t bother about chances and opportunities, but you must make the biggest effort possible. There is always a chance for success; anyone can become a famous musician, no matter where he comes. It can be Denmark or Hungary. The most important is that one must never give up their dreams, and must work for them as hard as possible.
